Camouflage Comeback

Army camouflage has fought its way back into the fashion scene and wardrobes of fashion lovers all over the world. Army chic is more popular perhaps now, then ever. A new twist on the rugged combat look has taken place, and designers such as Valentino and Givenchy have embraced the sizzling trend. The iconic pattern is usually distinguished by its earthy green fusion of colors, but don't be surprised if you spot brighter colors such as blue and orange brought into the mix. Below are just a few ways you can sport the hot trend this season.

Shoe Game

Guys, if you are not on the hottest shoe trend happening right now, you need to jump on it ASAP! Guys are becoming just as shoe obsessed as the one and only Carrie Bradshaw. The male shoe game has progressed to new fashion heights. From a time when men's shoes consisted of your basic New Balance running sneaker or Nike, along with a simple penny loafer and a more formal laced oxford in black or brown, shoes have since transformed into a whole new creature. Today there seems to be a variety of shoe styles that men have available to them. With individual styles bursting away from mainstream norms, shoes have become an integral part of any trend-setter's wardrobe.

Today the hottest shoe trend right now is the overly decked out sneaker. sneakers with platforms, sneakers with stuffed animals on them, sneakers decorated with metal and covered in spikes all seem to be what's hot with kicks today.

Beyond Fashion

The Metropolitan Museum of Art kicked of its annual Costume Institute Gala Benefit last night where the stars came out to put their best fashion foot forward. A drastic change from last year's punk exhibit, the Costume Institute Gala exudes elegance at its finest, showcasing the great American designer, Charles James. Charles James was considered an American couturier, although impossible as couture designers are only deemed haute couture by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in France, and you must be a French based designer. Despite the extreme exclusivity of the haute couture community, Charles James' designs were immaculate. Charles really had a passion for what he did and incorporated elements of art, math and science to execute his architectural masterpieces.

The exhibit is open to the public May 8th and runs until August 10, 2014. Upon arrival you can see 75 of the most breathtaking designs produced by the famed designer throughout the extent of his career. This year's exhibit utilizes the new Anna Wintour Costume Center and the first floor's Special Exhibition Galleries.

This year the stars, socialites and fashion experts gracefully walked down fashion's hottest red carpet in gorgeous ball gowns fit for the event. Below are just some of the styles from last nights Gala.

Holy Miley

The 'Can't Be Tamed' singer is looking wildly gorgeous and almost unrecognizable in her new spread for W Magazine out today, and boy oh boy is she red-hot! After receiving quite a bit of flack post VMA twerking fiasco, media all around the world was certain this one-time Disney apprentice was on the same path Hollywood starlets before her once battled. Comparing her to the Lindsay's, Paris', and Britney's of Tinseltown, most people were expecting her to soon reveal that she had been struggling with substance abuse, and was ready to commit herself into rehab. Sorry I'm not sorry, but it has been quite the contrary. Her star has risen more than ever before and America's Sweetheart has turned into Fashion's Most Wanted. Recently, Miley has been seen wearing close to nothing but duck-tape and a wagging tounge, but when the  21 year old Nashville native does decide to 'cover up' you can be sure she's doing it in Marc Jacobs. That's right, fashion designer just named her the new face of Marc Jacobs and a new ad campaign presenting an androgynous looking Miley can be found in todays fashion mags on newsstands today.

Since then Miley, Ms. Cyrus if your nasty, has recently came out with a spread for W Magazine and words cannot describe how flawless this girl looks! She is edgy, exudes punk, rock and roll, and has sex goddess written all over her. This former child star is now an adult superstar and has come a long way from her awkward photo shoots with Daddy Ray Cyrus. She is a force to be reckoned with in the fashion world and the perfectly paired, Marcus and Mert, has captured that in the W Magazine spread. Whether its wearing nothing but a sleeve of silver bangles, exposing a nipple in a black leather jumpsuit, or a simulation of stimulation while clad in a sultry back bearing top, Miley Cyrus is making her mark in the fashion world. Miley's rocking fashion with hardy anything on and I'm loving every second of it. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us in 2014. If you haven't seen the photos yet, look no further.

Kate Moss Celebrates 60 Years!

Of adult entertainment that is. Playboy snags up the one and only Kate Moss for the cover, celebrating their 60th Anniversary of the legendary magazine. The spread, shot buy the photography duo Mert and Markus, was classic Playboy bringing us back to the good ole days of satin leotards vamped up with Chippendale-esque cuffs and collared bow ties, complete with bunny ears and a cotton tail. The trademark look is worn by the supermodel on the cover and can be seen four other times, one where Moss is shown in sequence taking parts of the outfit off, and another where she seductively flashes her right nipple at the salivating spectator. The shoot was glorious and I couldn't of thought of anyone better to help Hugh and the gang celebrate this milestone with such an iconic look and magazine other than an icon herself, Kate Moss. Check out some of the photos by clicking on the link below and make sure to buy the January/February issue of Playboy to see all 18 pages of the Catwalk Queen on available soon.

My personal favorite photo from the spread is this Holly Golightly inspired picture below.

From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk

If you haven't been to The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk now on display at the Brooklyn Museum, go! The exhibition dedicated to the French couturier, running until February 23, 2014, is a one of a kind show that any fashion enthusiast should see. Not to give too much away, let's just say that you will experience up close and personal the wonders of Jean Paul Gaultier from the beginning, to the most recent Madonna coned corset, such as the ones shown below. I know for most people, Brooklyn might be a trek, but let me tell you, it is totally worth it. If you do, you will encounter the infamous nautical themed fashions that Gaultier even uses in his design for the men's cologne bottle. Le Male, illustrations and polaroids of a few Madonna tours including her most recent MDNA Tour, 140 ensembles from couture to prêt-à-porter, and much more. To me this presentation is MET Costume Institute worthy and should have been replaced for this years flop, Punk: Chaos to Couture. The Fashion world of Jean Paul Gaultier was everything and you can get tickets until 5pm on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and until 9pm on Thursdays. The Museum is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. If you are a member you can go to the members only viewings on Saturdays between 11am and 1pm.

G.O.N.T. Is The New Black

My new favorite accessories designer is at it again! G.O.N.T. has revamped the tote bag. Making it more fashionable and convenient for any occasion, this tote should be on everyone's must have list. G.O.N.T. has joined illustrious designers such as JW Anderson, John Paul Gualtier, and Helmut Lang and has created a unisex tote.  This bag exudes a sense of sophistication which makes it perfect for a night on the town. However, don't be too shy to carry this beauty around with you during the day, because it's day to night versatility is undeniable. This bag is perfect to carry around during the work day to store your goodies in. G.O.N.T. is mixing things up with their tote and introducing to the world their Vex Tote which is a two-tone bag with an astounding mix of color. My personal favorite is the essential black tote that they offer. For me black is the easiest to work with any color combination and can look elegant as well as punk. I have spent countless hours scouting for 'the perfect bag' and really couldn't find one that was refined and chic until I discovered G.O.N.T. Check out the photos of the Vex Tote below as well as what these stunning totes look like inside. With names like Dark Lux, Baroque, The Vamps and Holy Trinity you can ensure that this line is marketing to anyone who enjoys simple, yet aphotic elegance.
